Philosophy on Teaching

My philosophy of teaching is very simple; I believe that every child deserves a quality education regardless of their circumstances. I come from four generations of teachers and I strongly believe that teaching is in my blood so to speak. I have seen first-hand how teachers can shape a student’s future through my family and my own personal school year experiences. Recalling all of these memories and experience has shaped me into what kind and type of teacher I want to be and also my teaching style.
School is somewhere in my opinion that should be a loving and nurturing place regardless of grade level and economic background. It should be somewhere a child comes to feel supported and safe to be themselves as individuals. School should also be an environment with educational enrichment. What I have seen throughout my experiences school is a home away from homes for some children and for other children it is break from their home life. A teacher doesn’t always know what student’s home life is so while the child is a school, the teacher wants to make the child experience at school a positive , safe , enjoyable and of course educational.
A teacher needs to be more than just someone who just teaches. Teachers wear different kinds of hats during school hours and non-school hours. A teacher can be a shoulder to lend on, mentor, extend member of the student’s family. The true is that teachers do help with the raising of each student in their classroom. Most importantly a teacher always needs to advocate for each of their students.  I strongly believe that some people inherit the love and the craft of teaching and everyone is not meant to be a teacher. It boils down to the love of teaching and children.
Traditionally speaking, a student comes to class and is ready to learn and the teacher teaches them, this is still mostly true. Modern technology has made learning and teaching an out of the classroom approach. More children are coming to school and knowing and learning more than children ten years ago. The role of the teacher is to bridge the gap between the classroom and technology. Teachers need to stay engage in what their students are interested in and the most modern technology. Learning needs to informational and enjoyable and one way to achieve this; is knowing what is current and interesting to student. The face of the matter is that if you want children to learn, a teacher needs to teach something that the students enjoy and relate to.
Educators needs to know that there is no universal teaching style or testing style for every child. Every child has their strengths and weakness no child is perfect. Teachers need to be aware that every child doesn’t learn the same way or at the same time. A teacher needs to be flexible and empathy and most importantly patience. A teacher needs to understand that children come from all different walks of life and that every student home life is different. No two children are the same so the way that they learn or pick things are not the same. Teachers needs to use a variety of teaching techniques and technologies to ensure that all learning styles are promoted in the classroom .Teacher needs to be understanding that is will be no perfect test to go give student   Teachers’ needs to use informal and formal techniques of testing to ensure that every child gets a fair chance to display what have learned.

Teaching is just not a career or a paycheck but a dedication to a lifelong process of learning and teaching. Educators have an impact or an imprint on every student that they come in contact with. Every student is not going to have all positive experience through school and yes there are teacher out there who have no business teaching. I have learned and experience all types of teaching styles and teacher and I know what type of teacher I’m and aspire to be. I’m compassion, positive, and patience person and I love the craft of teaching, believe that I have all of the foundational basics to be an awesome teacher.

  1. I completely agree, teachers wear so many hats and some people are just not made to be teachers, we all have our strengths. Patience is a key component, just as you said there is no set way to teach all students and they all learn at different rates. Teaching is certainly not a paycheck :P I wish you many years of happy teaching.
